This summer, Lépine Apartments made our debut as the presenting partner of the PGA TOUR Americas Commissionaires Ottawa Open. The 2025 edition took place from July 21 to 27 at Ottawa’s renowned Eagle Creek Golf Club in Dunrobin. Michigan’s Brett White won the trophy, marking the largest comeback in PGA TOUR Americas history—and it was magnificent. We’re deeply proud that the event’s biggest winners are the beneficiaries of Soldier On.
The longstanding Canadian Armed Forces program contributes to the recovery of ill and injured CAF members and veterans through athletic, recreational and creative activities. Our involvement with this year’s Ottawa Open helped generate awareness and funds for the vital initiative; tournament proceeds totaling approximately $100k went to Soldier On. It was an honour to play a part in bringing together so many dedicated people for an incredible week celebrating sportsmanship and connection, and giving back to those who serve our country.
Veteran Stephan Moreau is among those people. A devoted member of Soldier On, Moreau participated in the week’s events by caddying for several of the golfers. He also made time, on behalf of Lépine Apartments, to interview two of the most exciting names at the 2025 Ottawa Open: champion Brett White, and rising star Dillon Stewart, who was joined by his father—and caddy—Scott Stewart.
Speaking with Moreau, White shared what it was like to beat his own personal best and shoot a 59—a rare feat in the golfing world; he was 13 strokes under par on Eagle Creek’s par-72 course—despite being seven strokes behind the leader when the final round began. And he reflected on what it means to share it all with his wife, Natalie, and their four-month-old daughter, Nellie, who were with him throughout the week.
“They’re the reason I work so hard,” says White. “The win just kind of validates all the hard work I’ve been doing.”
Family is also crucial for Colorado’s Dillon Stewart, who turned pro in 2023. His father cheered him on throughout an impressive amateur career, and now proudly serves as his caddy. Scott Stewart says he knew his son was destined for greatness when, at age 11, “he started winning all the junior tournaments in Colorado,” even after moving up to compete against older players.
Now that he’s gone pro, the younger Stewart says not much has changed about his game. As he told Moreau, “You’re still playing 18 holes.” But he does have a mental trick for managing the nervousness that comes from performing in front of increasingly large crowds: rather than seeing jitters as an obstacle, he views them as something he’s earned by upping his game. “It’s a privilege to have those nerves.”
Team Lépine shared in some of that privilege when we stepped onto the green for the July 23 Pro-Am, in which PGA TOUR Americas professional players join amateur players for a round of golf. We were delighted to play with none other than Dillon Stewart himself, getting a close-up view of what it takes to become one of the best.
On July 26, we also hosted our monthly networking event, Apéro Royale, at Eagle Creek Golf Club’s 18th hole. It was our pleasure to welcome professionals, creatives and local leaders to mingle with the golfing and CAF communities, sharing insights and making new contacts.
We at Lépine believe that golf, with its emphasis on camaraderie and connection, is particularly uplifting for veterans. That’s why the Ottawa Open is the perfect fit to raise funds and awareness for Soldier On. We’re thrilled to return for the next two years as the tournament’s presenting sponsor, reuniting with those who helped make the 2025 PGA TOUR Americas Commissionaires Ottawa Open a great success, and continuing to support veterans and CAF members.
Looking forward to seeing you on the green in 2026. For more about Soldier On, please visit their website to learn how you can get involved.
